LyondellBasell’s Equistar Pipeline Donates to Markham and Midfield Volunteer Fire Departments

March 28, 2018

MARKHAM AND MIDFIELD, Texas – March 28, 2018 – The Equistar Pipeline Operations (EPO) of LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB), one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies, selected the Markham and Midfield Volunteer Fire Departments to each receive $1,500 in funding for firefighters to attend training alongside its Emergency Response Team.

“We place great value on our first responders and are committed to assisting them however we can,” said Scot McClure, site manager of LyondellBasell’s Equistar Pipeline Operations. “I’m proud that our donation will help strengthen the mutual aid relationship between our pipeline facility and our local fire departments.”

The donation will enable one firefighter from each fire department to attend a two-day industrial fire training school at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) in College Station, Texas. TEEX is an internationally recognized leader in the delivery of emergency response and workforce training, exercises, technical assistance and economic development. At TEEX, firefighters participate in intensive training courses taught by different guest instructors, each experienced in specific areas of emergency response.

TEEX operates the world’s most comprehensive emergency operations training complex. Additionally, TEEX is home to the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center, which has been preparing emergency responders to combat natural and man-made disasters since 1998.

EPO operates and maintains 1,400 miles of pipeline in Texas and Louisiana. Additionally, EPO oversees two storage facilities in Texas – Markham and Mt. Belvieu. Both the Markham and Midfield Volunteer Fire Departments would support the Equistar Pipeline Markham Storage Facility with mutual aid in case of an emergency.
